Comet Holmes continues to evolve

Last night after the GTAS monthly meeting a few other members and I decided to observe the comet in the club 13.1” reflector.  We found that the coma shows one clearly defined edge the opposite side, this is the side the ion tail would be seen, no longer has a sharp edge it fades out of sight.  I thought I could see some streamers coming off the nucleus,  I am not sure the others were convinced they could see these streamers so if they were truely visable or not is still up in the air.   The size of the comet had also continued to expand at its phenomenal rate, in the eyepiece it was almost half the size of a full moon.  Holmes appeared to be brighter, maybe approaching magnitude 2?

Stay Tuned for more observation updates, it does look as though our clear sky luck has passed we are forecast to have clouds the next several nights.
